Project Overview

KACO GmbH + Co. KG, a subsidiary of the ZhongDing Group, is a globally recognized leader in developing high-precision sealing solutions for the automotive industry. In one of its six production plants, located in St. Michael im Lungau, Austria, the company faced significant noise challenges in a designated room used for deburring and drying sealing components. The noise from the machinery posed a risk to employee well-being, prompting KACO to seek a soundproofing solution that wouldn’t interfere with production logistics.

Challenge

The noise level in the 100m² room, where four large machines operated continuously, reached a constant 87 dB(A), creating a challenging work environment for employees. Due to spatial constraints and intralogistic needs, room separators and enclosures were not viable options as they would have negatively impacted production processes. The challenge was to reduce the noise levels while ensuring that production efficiency remained unaffected.

Scope of Work

• Acoustic inspection and measurement of noise levels in the 100m² production room.
• Design and selection of appropriate soundproofing materials, ensuring compatibility with the production environment.
• Installation of noise-absorbing materials on walls and ceilings, strategically placed to avoid interfering with production activities.

Solution

To address the noise problem, we applied highly absorbent acoustic foam panels, 10-15cm thick, to the walls and ceilings of the room. These foam panels were positioned to ensure maximum sound absorption while maintaining the flow of production. By focusing on reducing echoes and overall noise levels in the confined space, the installation provided an effective noise reduction solution without any disruption to internal workflows. No structural modifications or enclosures were required, allowing the client to continue with their existing processes uninterrupted.
